Complimentary Memory Evaluation

Complimentary Memory Evaluation & Cognitive Testing

At the Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment Center, we offer a complimentary memory evaluation to help assess cognitive health and identify early signs of memory loss or Alzheimer’s disease. Whether you’re seeking a baseline evaluation, worried about early cognitive decline, or looking for ways to manage memory concerns, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

What to Expect During Your Memory Evaluation

⏱ 1. Memory Evaluation (20 minutes)

Your appointment will start with a preliminary memory evaluation, designed to assess your cognitive abilities and help us identify preliminary signs of memory concerns at any stage. This brief 20-minute verbal activity will typically include components such as:

✓ Immediate memory and recall tasks
✓ Attention and concentration exercises

The results of this evaluation provide essential data for our team to understand your cognitive health better, helping us assess whether there are any areas that may need further attention or follow-up.

📋 2. Medical History Review and Cognitive Health Evaluation

After the memory evaluation, you will have a one-on-one session with a member of our medical team, lasting about one hour. This part of the appointment is focused on understanding your medical history and how it may relate to your memory concerns.

a. Medical History

We’ll begin by discussing your overall health. This includes a review of any chronic illnesses, treatments, surgeries or previous conditions that may be relevant to your cognitive health. Health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, or any history of stroke may have an impact on your memory, so it’s important to provide comprehensive details about your medical background.

b. Medications

We’ll review your current medications and supplements. Certain medications, especially those prescribed for other conditions, can affect memory.

c. Memory Concerns

This is your opportunity to openly discuss any memory-related issues you may have noticed. Our team will ask you questions such as:

• When did you first notice memory changes?

• Are there specific moments when memory problems seem more severe?

• How are these changes affecting your daily life?

This helps us understand the context and severity of your concerns and determine the most appropriate next steps.

d. Family History of Memory Loss
We’ll also ask about your family history, as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can sometimes run in families. Knowing whether any close relatives have had similar memory issues allows us to assess genetic or hereditary factors that could be influencing your condition.
e. Social History

Finally, we’ll take a deeper look into your social history, including your lifestyle, habits, and overall daily routine. This includes:

• Social interactions with friends and family

• Participation in mentally stimulating activities (e.g., reading, puzzles)

• Physical exercise and overall health

• Sleep patterns and diet

Lifestyle choices play an essential role in maintaining cognitive health. Our team can provide tips for enhancing mental well-being based on your lifestyle.

❤ 3. Comprehensive Care & Further Steps

After completing the memory evaluation and medical review, we will discuss the information gathered to create a personalized plan. This may include:

  • Feedback on memory evaluation results, helping you understand what the data suggests.
  • Recommendations for monitoring, further testing or access to clinical trials if eligible. Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment Center conducts clinical trials to explore new treatments for cognitive decline.
  • Support and resources for improving cognitive health, including access to educational resources, support groups, and lifestyle recommendations.
